John von Neumann (1903-1957), Hungarian-American mathematician, physicist, computer scientist, engineer, and polymath. His major works include Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Mechanics (1932), Theory of Games and Economic Behavior (1944) with Oskar Morgenstern, First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC (1945), and The Computer and the Brain (1958).
